Image Alchemy's ™ Digital Image Print System (DIPS)

Image Alchemy's ™ DIPS (generically referred to as Continuous Ink Supply System (CISS) or Continuous Flow System (CFS). Image Alchemy's Continuous Ink Supply System consists of a reservoir of special fade-resistant Cibachrome™ inks situated outside of the inkjet printer. The Cibachrome™ inks are syphoned from the Continuous Ink Supply System ink tanks, through micro-tubing and into specially modified cartridges within the inkjet printer.
The usable ink content of Epson's photo-printer cartridges is approximately 13ml per colour. At 130ml per colour, Image Alchemy's™ Continuous Ink Supply System contains ten times as much ink!

The Cost Savings

The cost savings associated with our Continuous Ink Supply System are spectacular. To get an equivalent amount of ink as contained in Image Alchemy's™ Continuous Ink Supply Systemfor the Epson 2100 printer you would have to buy 10 sets of cartridges, costing approximately £1024* (*Price as Epson's UK website May 2008); our professional specification DIPS CISS costs a fraction of that.
Additionally, using Image Alchemy's™ Continuous Ink Supply System with 130ml refills works out as 480%* cheaper than buying equivalent amount of usable ink in OEM cartridges. (*As calculated by Manchester University's Department of Mathematics).

The Hardware

Image Alchemy's™ DIPS Continuous Ink Supply System is an efficient and highly cost effective, fade-resistant print system, suitable for use by professional and enthusiast image makers. The system is suitable for most Epson Photo Stylus™ inkjet printers, although systems for other manufacturers' printers are in development and will be announced soon. The quality of Image Alchemy's™ DIPS CISS is of a very high standard and has been produced with the assistance of the University of Manchester's Department of Manufacturing.
All our Image Alchemy's™  DIPS CISS come pre-filled with ink and can be installed and up and running in minutes. There is no need for messy, time consuming pumping and clamping of tubes - simply click in the cartridges; attach the support arm and print! All Image Alchemy's™ DIPS CISS are installed in a precision made and aesthetically designed acrylic case which will contain any accidental refill spillage.

The Stringent Testing

Image Alchemy™ has made a considerable investment in equipment to test inks and papers for fading characteristics. There are a number of causes for image fading: UV light, pollution, humidity, and ambient levels of ozone.  However, it is generally acknowledged that UV light and ozone are the two principle causes of fading.
Image Alchemy's™ inks have been independently tested using the International ISO 105-BO2 standard. Our inks meet Blue Wool Scale (BWS) 6 and BWS 7. 
Unlike most of our competitors, we carry out in-house testing of both our own and competitor's paper and inks using a state-of-the-art, acceleration testing chamber from Light Science™.
Additionally, we test our inks and paper for ozone gas stability using our ozone generator.
We have made an investment in Raster Image Processor software that enables us to print individual inks without cross-contamination. We do not use smear swatches as the ink thickness can be extremely variable and not at all representative of what can actually be produced on the printer. Finally,and only when completely satisfied with the quality of our products, we submit them for independent certification. Our inks and papers are truly class-leading products.

Cibachrome Tempus™ Archival Dye Inks

Image Alchemy's™ TEMPUS™ ARCHIVAL DYE INKS have been independently certified across the range to a minimum of ISO 105 - BO2 standard of BWS 6 and as such meet the requirements of the Fine Art Trade Guild as an archival ink.

Cibachrome Chronos™ Archival Pigment Inks

Image Alchemy's CHRONOS™ ARCHIVAL PIGMENT INKS are made from the latest micro-pigments. These micro-fine pigment particles offer the benefit of extended colour life up to ISO 105 -BO2 standard of BWS 7. Having a smaller colour range and a less glossy finish than dye inks, they are ideal for fine-art printing on matt papers where maximum image life is a priority.

Cibachrome Black Art™ Graduated Black Inks - For Fine-Art Prints

We are proud to announce our new "Black Art"™ graduated black inks for use in certain colour desktop printers.  With these special inks and our DIPS CISS hardware, it is possible to reproduce fine-art black and white prints to rival those produced using film technology.  Truly spectacular results can be obtained using our inks and QuadTone RIP software.

The Ink Refill System

Image Alchemy's™ ink refill system is quick, clean and simple to use. There is no need to clamp the ink tubing or pour ink from one container to another. Simply remove the protective cover, insert the refill into the ink tank, gently squeeze and it's done!

The Free Colour Profiling

Image Alchemy's™ is an appointed Gretag Macbeth/X-rite dealer and with over 40 years of experience in the field of colour correction and profiling you can be assured that we are experts. With every Image Alchemy™ DIPS we offer a ÂŁ30 colour profile FREE OF CHARGE. This profile is custom-made for your printer and choice of paper. The customer simply prints the colour charts on the supplied CD and returns them to us.  We will then profile them and either e-mail, or post a CD with your unique profile attached for simple installation.
